• Journaling & Meditation

Of course journaling is the foundation of our retreats. But will there be more than journaling, you ask? Absolutely. There will be an array of self-care activities and sessions, but we will reserve dedicated time to reflect through journaling and meditation, with options of individual journaling and journaling in community through our collective journaling sister circle sessions.

  • Travel

Life is all about balance. So, yes, self-introspection is necessary, but so is external exploration. Our retreats combine both! Travel with us as we explore new locations, reflect on new and past experiences, and enjoy the beautiful lives we’ve been gifted. Our travel accommodations will be handled by trusted local and international partners, and will include all hotel accommodations, activities, and listed meals.

  • Rest + Reflection

The primary goal of our retreats is to call our energy back home to us. Rest and reflection are a huge part of that. Think Zen vibes. Think serene atmospheres. Think calming waters. That’s the vibe we’re going for. Our desire is for attendees to leave feeling restored and refueled for life. The activities will offer primary relaxation, but there will also be opportunities to challenge ourselves + exert energy, followed by relaxation.

What to expect

The Black Girl’s Journal founder, Kamaria Fayola, hosts each retreat. She’s a writer, attorney, and lifelong journaler with a passion for supporting Black women. Retreats offer attendees the opportunity to explore new places and meet new friends while also exploring themselves more deeply. For retreats you can expect to spend part of your time participating in various collective journaling and self-care sessions, part of your time exploring a beautiful location via exciting activities, and part of the time resting, rejuvenating, and relaxing. All attendees receive a complimentary copy of The Black Girl’s Journal to utilize during various journaling sessions. The Black Girl’s Journal partners with trusted third-party providers to coordinate logistics and payment. You can find more about logistics below. If you’re interested in connecting with like-minded women who are on their own growth journeys, sign up to receive alerts about upcoming retreats.

Travel Logistics

Exploring the new places while gaining deeper understanding of ourselves is an entire vibe. To maintain the positive energy throughout the trip, we will always utilize trusted third-party partners to help coordinate the logistics of our travel. Depending on the retreat, travel may be either within the United States or international. For US-based retreats, expect 3-4 days, and when traveling abroad, you can anticipate about a 7-8 day trip. For international retreats, Trova Trip is The Black Girl’s Journal’s preferred provider. Kamaria has found them to be very reliable, safe, and communicative. Their platform handles everything from ground transportation (optional), hotel accommodations (which include both single and double occupancy options), local guides, group transportation, and translation when needed. Attendees are responsible for booking their own flights. Trova Trip has payment plans available via Affirm, and they expertly handle the logistics to help us sink deeper into vacation mode. If traveling stress-free sounds like your vibe, join us for our next retreat!
